A remotely operated underwater vehicle, also referred to as ROV, is an underwater vehicle which is usually tethered. The unoccupied vehicle is similar to a robot, which is fitted out with sensors and sampling tools to collect various types of data. A network of cables is utilized to establish a connection between the operator and the remotely operated vehicle, which would enable the proper movement of the ROV.
Most ROVs are equipped with at least a still camera, video camera, and lights, meaning that they can transmit images and video back to the ship. Additional equipment, such as a manipulator or cutting arm, water samplers, and instruments that measure parameters like water clarity and temperature, may also be added to vehicles to allow for sample collection.
ROVs cannot complete underwater tasks without battery packs as the main power unit. Typically, ROV can stay underwater for one or two hours depending on its battery capacity. While some underwater ROV drones are equipped with swappable batteries so you don’t need to worry about running out of battery and it also saves your time charging. Naturally, lithium-ion batteries, with great discharge characteristics, a longer cycle life, and a higher capacity and stability, have become the preferred option to power ROVs and the sophisticated equipment inside, such as displays and data recording devices, cameras, under water positioning systems and others. Endurable acclimation performance will be the continuous power supply for ROVs in underwater observation and exploration. If temperature is lower than -20℃, we will choose low temperature type Lithium-ion battery for ROV.
The Lithium-ion Battery (14.8V, 18Ah) is a high-capacity custom battery pack made from high quality 18650 lithium-ion cells. This 4S (14.8V) battery has a nominal capacity of 18.0Ah, plenty for up to 4 hours of continuous moderate use on the ROV. The lithium-ion cells the battery is comprised of have excellent performance characteristics, as well as a high tolerance for accidental mishandling.
